Stuart Paterson

Stuart took up longer distance running late at high school ,completing his first Marathon and then Ironman Triathlon age 19. He continued to compete in triathlon for the local club (Grangemouth Triathlon Club) with success as the Scottish Student Duathlon champion , competing for GB at the European Championships and then placing 3^rd in the 18-24 AG at Ironman UK. Following a final long distance triathlon completion at Ironman Wales in 2018 , Stuart attempted his first Ultra Marathon at Dunoon coming 1^st.

With more of a focus on running, Stuart continued to compete in Ultra Marathons across Scotland with a number of notable wins, course records and a podium at the Scottish Trail Ultra Championship in 2019. Further wins and increasing distance, he got a selected for the Scottish team to compete at the Anglo-Celtic plate 100km Road Championships in 2024 in Perth. This Scotland team were successful in winning the Anglo-Celtic plate against the other home nations. Stuarts most recent success came at the Scottish Ultra Trail Championships in September 2025 where he became the Scottish Champion.

Since starting Triathlon at age 19 , Stuart has been a patient of Life Fit Wellness who have helped him to reach the start line of many races. Following an injury in his early 20’s, it was Life Fit Physio Emmet Kennedy who suggested he should try trail running and this started the love of trails that led to him becoming Scottish Champion 10 years later. The continued support of Life Fit as a sponsored athlete is extremely appreciated by Stuart, hopefully bringing more success in the coming season.
