B.Sc (Hons)(Physio), MCSP, HCPC, ACPOHE
Arlene has a great passion for the benefits of physiotherapy and how movement and exercise can be used to treat, rehabilitate and manage a whole range of injuries and illnesses and help maintain optimal health.
Working on these principles, Arlene has spent many years developing her expertise in Pilates. She initially trained with Polestar in 2000 whilst living and working in Australia and more recently became an APPI certified instructor. Arlene is dedicated to her continued education and enjoyment of Pilates and attends courses and conferences to enhance her Pilates knowledge at every opportunity. This expertise not only encompasses matwork and small equipment but also large equipment such as the reformer, traps table, arc barrel and wunda chair.
Having been introduced to Nordic Walking through the Pilates world, Arlene has also become an INWA National Coach for Scotland.
Arlene graduated from University of Ulster in 1992 with BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Her clinical work began at The Western General Hospital in Edinburgh rotating through the many medical specialities with a significant time spent in various neurological departments.
Arlene’s journey in private practice began in Australia where she not only discovered her love of Pilates but also began to specialise in occupational injuries and ergonomics, both in office and industrial settings.
Although Arlene teaches Pilates and other classes and 1-1 sessions, she will always find the time and energy to enjoy a pilates class and appreciates and values other tutors skills and style of lessons. She also enjoys getting outside in all weather to Nordic Walk, run and cycle. When all her professional and personal chores are complete, she loves to relax with a good book!
